How to Make a Robot

How to build a read working robot...it's easy and somewhat cheap.

Get some money if you do it right (spend more money to make it "cooler").

Plan, draw, think and talk to others about your ideas.

Go shopping. Try local stores, internet search, flea markets, Goodwill, and yard sales.

Think of a name for your robot.

Build!

Tips

  • Don't make it too hard (or even impossible).
  • Have fun.
  • Lots of parts can be found in old toys and electronics.

Warnings

  • Have adult supervision for children in using tools and wires.
  • Be careful when wiring, the wires may be very sharp and very dangerous to eyes if handled improperly.
  • Always use batteries and possibly use recharging, but never use house electric except for a battery charger.

Things You'll Need

  • a plan (or a kit if you like)
  • wheels according to you plan
  • motor(s)
  • levers, pulleys, gears as planned
  • solenoid (electromagnetic device that do short push/pull)
  • battery holders and clips
  • toggle-switches for on/off, etc.
  • antenna and a control system (if remote controlled)
  • LED lights where applicable
  • wireless video camera as planned
  • something way to make it move by its self
  • some wiring and a way to connect wiring as needed
