- Cut cardboard into 8" long x 3" wide strips.
- With cardboard down on a cutting board, place 1 AA battery on one end.
- Roll once so the battery is covered.
- Hold in place.
- Spread a light coat of Craft Glue in thin sections on the rest of the cardboard.
- Roll the battery up.
- Using electrical tape, tape roll together vertically.
- Wrap ends in electrical tape.
- Set aside to dry.
- Cut a 1" piece of putty.
- Cut in 1/2 through the middle.
- Once the tubes dry, take 1 of these pieces.
- Pack it in tightly at the end of the tube to make a seal, using a bolt to really pack it in.
- Smooth outer side with fingers.
- Using a flashlight, shine through the open end.
- Be sure the end you packed is sealed well.
- Get your sturdy box.
- Cut up sparklers into tiny crushable size pieces. Use your pestle.
- Finely grind ten sparklers into powder.
- Use a small funnel with an opening less than the size of a penny.
- Fill the tube a third of the way with sparkler powder.
- Pack it tightly using a bolt and pressing and packing firmly.
- Continue until almost complete, leaving about 5 mm.
- Put the remaining piece of Knead in the open end.
- Pack firmly to seal.
- Close the tube.
- Smooth outer section with fingers.
- Holding the tube vertically, drill a 1.5 mm hole on each side within the taped area, cleaning off any putty.
- You have two sets of holes within the taped area.
- Take the whole sparkler stick.
- Run it through 1 side and out the other of the holes you just drilled.
- Make sure it goes through smoothly.
- Drill a 4mm hole into the center on the end where you just drilled side holes.
- Using two wire ends of the sparkler sticks, cut into 2" strips.
- Insert in 2 holes on the sides.
- Bend wires down.
- Tape tightly.
- Insert a piece of sparkler approximately 3" long into a center hole drilled into the top of the tube. This is the fuse.
- Out of doors, set up launching mechanism.
- Take 2 12" sticks.
- Cross over to make an "X".
- Tape together in the center to keep the x formation.
- Press firmly into the ground.
- Place one end of the launch device on the cradle of the "X" bracket and the other on the ground.
- Place the sparkler rocket into the pipe with the fuse section sticking outside.
- Light fuse!
